About
Born to Mexican parents and raised in East LA, I graduated from James A. Garfield High School in 2013 and California State University, Long Beach in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Theory and Practice of Cinema.
I do say that with pride since I’m the first one in my family to graduate from college as a first generation kid, but from my time in school, I realized that a lot of it boils down to restricting you from learning about real everyday things. I’m not a fan of school, but my experience in high school and college taught me that I needed to get out there and work on my own stuff, meanwhile balancing a “normal” job.
So, I started as a freelance videographer and photographer when I was 17. Now, I’m 29, and I have dedicated my twenties to working in the post-production side of the film industry, having worked for The Walt Disney Company, Deluxe Media, LADB, FilmLA, and with various nonprofit organizations throughout Los Angeles, all while making my own projects and learning more about my community.
I love telling stories and I am fascinated by film.
I like that I can pick up my camera, experience life through that lens, and then tell a story, whether it's of someone else, myself, or an event. I want to give people a voice to share their stories and their struggles.
That's what I keep working towards, and that's why I created 'blue apt. films', which I named after the blue apartments I lived in as a kid with my family.
blue apt. films is an avenue for us to tell our own stories.
I shoot, direct, and edit all of my short documentaries, with the hope of collaborating with talented people in the near future. So, if you’d like to collaborate, if you have an idea for a video or a story to tell, a music video to shoot, anything, feel free to reach out. I’d love to work with you.
